WHAT'S WITH THE UNICORN?
Elysia Grace Interiors uses the unicorn logo as a representation of my imaginative design style and unique outlook. It also happens to be the same as a tattoo that I have because I wanted my brand to be a part of me!
WHAT ARE YOU UP TO AT THE MOMENT?
I have spent the last year working in the world of architecture. I have been working on several commercial interiors projects all around Gloucestershire. I have also been using my free time to work on some home styling projects and learn some new rendering programs.
WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU SPECIALISE IN?
I like to think of myself as being pretty diverse with both my skillset and my style. I am trained in primarily commercial interior design but have spent a lot of time also working on residential home styling, decorating, and furniture design. I put a lot of focus on branding and intelligent design with projects because I believe that a balance of substance, as well as style, is important in all areas of design. I especially love eco-design such as BREEAM and Passivhaus and try to work sustainability into everything I do.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE?
I hold a first-class BA university degree in Interior Design which has so far allowed me to work on a range of projects with many different people both freelance and in employment. I am also accredited by The Society of British Interior Designers (SBID) as an associate and plan to increase my relationship with them as my career progresses.
TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF?
Outside of Interior Design, I love making good food, playing tabletop board games, and watching 80s movies! I am currently trying to increase my creative skills and trying out new hobbies from pottery to pixel art. I also dedicate a lot of time to educating myself and others on great environmental practices, I am passionate bout the planet and love to tell anyone who will listen about the changes we can make to save the world!
WHAT DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS DO YOU USE?
If you've already had a look at my portfolio, you have probably noticed that I don't necessarily have one specific visual style. I like to fit my technique to the individual project. I standardly use SketchUp as a base as it is such a versatile programme for 3D work, I can then take this base down a more sketchy route such as in the "Hardwick Cafe" or "Container House" projects or use the model in TwinMotion or take assets into Revit for a more realistic look similar to the "Wooley Edge" or "CODA Cafe" projects. This way, the atmosphere of the space can be portrayed through the visual style as well as the literal representation.
